  • Forcing File System Check on next boot in case of disk errors

    When on Linux you may see that file system may behave strangely sometimes which is generally due to corrupt inodes or in all the complete file system.


    To overcome this you may want to run a file system check using fsck command.


    But in some conditions it is safe to run the fsck command on the next boot to be on a safe end.


    To do so you may need to create a file forcefsck on your systems root using command

    touch /forcefsck

    After which you would just need to reboot your system to let fsck command work.


    Please note it may take longer for your system to boot than normal.


    If your disk does not work properly even after this than you may need to change the Hard Drive on your system. :)


    Note before performing these steps you may need to keep a backup of important files.
