Skype can be installed in your Ubuntu system in various ways.

Here i am going to tell you 2 popular ways to install skype on your Ubuntu system.

    1. The GUI Way of installing skype

For this we will use cannonical partners repository. We need to enable it first, because by default it is disabled. To enable it :-

      a) go to Software & Updates from your dashboard.
      b) Open the 2nd tab i.e Other Software tab.
      c) Select the first 2 checkboxes i.e Canonical Partners and Canonical Partners(Source Code).
      d) Click close and allow Software & Updates to change the required settings.

Now we need Synaptic Package Manager, which we have to download from the Ubuntu Software Center.
Once your have Synaptic Package Manager installed, go to Synaptic Package Manager from your
dashboard. Click reload button present at the top.
Inside the search box type skype and when the result shows up, right click and select Mark for installation.
Now click apply button so that skype and other related dependencies get installed by itself.

Now you are good to go. To launch skype search skype in the dashboard and open it.

    2. The command Line way of installing skype

Open your terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) , and run the following commands :

      sudo apt-get update
      sudo apt-get install skype skype-bin
