You’ve probably spent a number of months of your life in checkout queues – even if it feels longer. But ‘someone’ has worked out a way to beat the system. ‘Amazon’ has gone past offering fashion and beauty products, electronics, mobile devices, books, and furniture. It’s now focussing on selling the ‘grocery essentials’ and ‘ready-to-eat’ meals, without ever having to stand in a checkout line.

Yes, that’s correct!

Amazon has unveiled a video of an innovative store which enables the customer to walk in, grab the desired food item and walk out, without the checkout. The video shows how a customer checks in at the store entrance and taps the cell phone on the turnstile, which automatically logs him with the store’s networks and connects his amazon account through an app. ‘Just Walk Out Technology’ automatically detects when the products are picked or returned back to the shelf with the help of a virtual cart. Once you’re done with the shopping, you can leave the store. Later, you’ll be charged from the Amazon account and will receive the receipt of your purchase.

The service is called the Amazon Go.

It uses artificial intelligence, sensors and machine learning to track the items which customers purchase from the store. Amazon claims that it began working on this project in 2012. The first virtual store is located on the corner of 7th Avenue and Blanchard Street at 2131 7th Ave, Seattle, WA . It is currently running in the testing phase and is open for the Amazon employees only. However the company claims that the store ‘will open to the public in early 2017’.
