Extensions are used to extra features to the Joomla website. They are very easy to install and use. There are two ways to install joomla extensions:

1. Installation from Backend:

To install from backend you will need to follow the following steps:

• Download the zip file of the extension to your local machine.
• Login to the backend of your Joomla site(administration)
• Go to Extensions --> Extension Manager
• Go to install. Here you will get 3 tabs
  1. Upload Package File --> You will upload the extension zip file from your local machine that you have downloaded and install it.
  2. Install from Directory --> This is manual installation which I will describe in manual installation.
  3. Install from URL --> Here you will give the url of the site from where you want to install the extensions.

By following above steps the extension will installed and you will get the message successfully installed.

2. Manual Installation:

For this you need to download the extension zip file on to your local machine. Unzip all of the files of the zip file. Now transfer the directory(using FTP) to the server according to the type of extension you are installing for example: if you are installing component then tranfer that file inside the component directory. You can install the extension manually in two ways for:

• Login to the backend of your Joomla site(administration). Go to Extensions --> Extension Manager --> Install. Select Install from Directory tab and give the path of the directory where you have transferred the file and Press install button. Extensions successfully installed on to your site.
• Login to the backend of your Joomla site(administration). Go to Extensions --> Extension Manager --> Discover. A page appear having the Discover button on the top left side. Press the button. It will display the extensions name that are not installed but files exists on the server. You will search the name of the extension whose files you have transferred to the server. Select it and press the install button on the top left side and the extensions installed successfully.
