How to import and export category in magento

If you want to add all categories of one project to your new empty project in magento, then You have to download Mage works import- export extension from the Zip File which is given in the end of this blog.

After download , paste both app and skin folder to your magento folder. then go to admin panel & you will see MageWorks category import/export options

Export All Categories

1-Go to admin panel & click on Mage Work option ( Mageworks->Export option)

2-Under the Export Profiles. Click on the Categories link.

3-Go to the root folder /var/export/category. You can view categories.csv file there.

Import All Categories

1-Copy category.csv file of other project & paste it to the /var/import/category folder of new project

2- Go to the admin panel & Click on Mageworks->Import.

3-Under the Import Profiles -> Categories-> Hit on submit button . After finished the execution you can view categories. If not display, then reindex your product categories and clear magento cache .
