    Android was founded by Andy Rubin, Rich Miner, Nick Sears and Chris White in October 2003, and later in the year 2005, its is acquired by Google. As Android is nowadays very popular mobile operating system and it is continuously evolving according to the time and updating its versions to users requirement. Recently Android O has released many new features for its users, so, in this tutorial, we will see what are those new things that Android has introduced for us in its store.

     


    Android O introduces many of the new things for user and developer both. Android O mostly guesses an Android Oreo.

     

    Android O is released into the four modulse:

    • Alpha Quality developer preview:-  This Module was released on the March 21, 2017.
    • Beta Quality developer preview:- This Module was released on the  May 17, 2017.
    • Developer preview:- The third released on the June 8, 2017.
    • Fourth and Final preview:-  The fourth and final developer was release on July 24, 2017.

     

    Android O provides many of the new features like Notification Channel, picture-in-picture, Autofill, Adaptive icon etc. As the Google announced on the Google I/O 2017, Android is working on the TensorFlow Lite machine learning so that it can improve your experience.

     

    The new feature of Android O is listed below:

    1. Notification: - Notification in the android O is redesigned to provide the better user experience and easier way to manage the Notification by the user and the developer. These changes include:
    • Notification channels: Notification channels help the user to categorise the notification on the basis of the channels means a user can customize the each type of notification which user wants to display.
    •  

    • Notification badges: We also call's it Android badges Android are popularly known as notification dots. Android O introduced the notification badges which are used to display the presence of the notification on the App launcher's icon, on which user has not acted yet.
    •  

    • Snoozing: In Android 8.0, User can snooze the notification for a particular time interval and when the interval time is completed the int appear again with the same level of the priority.
    •  

    • Notification timeouts: Android 8.0 provides a  setTimeoutAfter() method to set the time after that the notification will be cancelled, a user can cancel the notification before the timeout time.
    •  

    • Notification dismissal: Android 8.0 has introduced onNotificationRemoved() method so that we can check that whether a user has dismissed the notification, or it is cancelled by the app.
    •  

    • Background colors: You can set the background color for a notification. You can use this only for the ongoing notification. You can set your desired background color.

     

    1. Picture-in-picture mode:- PIP mode is not a new thing for the Android TV, but it is the new things for the mobile devices as it is a special type of multi window mode where the user uses it mainly for the video playback and in this era Android O developed and provided this feature for the Mobile devices of its users.

     

    1. Autofill Framework:- The user is getting frustrated to fill the login signup and other forms repetitively so android 8.0 provides an auto fill frameworks, is used for the filling out the forms.

     

    1. Adaptive Icon: - Android 8.0 provides the feature, adaptive icon so that the app icon can change the shape and visual effects on the different devices Models. 

     

    1. WebView APIs: Android O provides many of the new apis for webview to make it secure and scalable.

    Here, I am going to list some of them:

    • Version API.
    •  

    • Google SafeBrowsing API.
    •  

    • Termination Handle API.
    •  

    • Renderer Importance API.

     

    1. Multi-display support: Android O supports multi display mode so if the activity is running on the multi display mode and the devices support the milt display than a user can move from the one display to another display. There is a condition that only one activity can be in the resume mode and all the activity will be in the paused mode.

     

    1. Pointer capture:- Many of the apps want the control over the pointer like game and virtualisation clients, etc.Android O added the new feature so that we can get the control over the mouse pointer.
