Step 1- choose a model for baking Ambient Occlusion.

Step 2 - make sure you have a proper UV Layout for your model.

Step 3 - Set the project and save the file .

Step 4 - Make sure the Mentalray plugin is loaded in Maya.
To open the Plug-in Manager, select Window > Settings/Preferences > Plug-in Manager from the main menu bar.

Step 5- connect the 'OutValue' of the Occlusion node (mibambocclusion) to the 'OutColor' of the surface shader and assign Model

Step 6 - Now choose the rendering menu set and select Lighting/Shading > Batch Bake (Mental Ray) > Options box

Step 7 - Select your object in the viewport and hit the 'Convert and Close' button to start baking the occlusion
