Hi Guys!!
As a graphic designer i know that while working on a project in Illustrator, sometime you definitely want to use the same colors which you are already using but in different tones (as per requirements ) for different objects or illustrations.
So, here I’ll show you how we can use Blend tool to create a Color Scheme between two colors in Illustrator. A quick way to create In-between colors of two main colors which you have selected for the project in very few steps.
Even you can save those In-between colors in your swatches easily.
Step 1 : Blending Color Scheme with the Blend Tool
We can start with a new document in illustrator or you can load your project document. Here, I open a new Document..
then, select the Rectangle Tool (shortcut : press M), create two similar square shapes on both side of the canvas as i do (left side & right side).
& apply the two different colors you prefer on those two square shapes.
Step 2 : Now, Go to Object → Blend → Blend Options.
Set the Blend Options to 5 Specified Steps or whatever you want ( By default the value of steps will be 8 when you open the blend option ) .
& then select the first Orientation option & click OK.
Step3 : Select the two square shapes, go to Object → Blend → Make.
Now we’ll Expand those shapes and Ungroup them to use those shapes as swatches. For that we'll make sure the blended shapes are selected, go to Object → Expand, click OK.
then right click on the selected shapes and select Ungroup.
Now you can use these shapes & can save them as swatches for your project :)
So,you can easily create original color scheme with different tones for your projects by using this easy technique & the useful tool "Blend Tool" :)
